NHRA Midwest Nationals Winners

The NHRA Midwest Nationals, the 20th stop on the NHRA tour. Its a 3 day race, like many on the tour.  There was a threat of rain, but the 3 day race was warm with temps in the mid 80’s to mid 90’s on Sunday and no rain delays. The Factory Stock Showdown cars were running number 7 out the of 8 race series. With 22 cars trying for 16 spots the track conditions would be the key to victory for a first time winner.

 

Factory Stock Showdown: David Kramer over Arthur Kohn

Kramer is in his first final, Kohn has never run Kramer. Kramer is .000 on the tree to Kohn’s .053. The cars have been pretty evenly matched throughout the previous rounds. Kramer gets the win on a hole shot, running a 8.022 to Kohn’s 8.013. The is Kramer first Factory Stock Showdown win.

 

Comp: David Billingsley over Travis Gusso

Gusso qualified 13 and is at a slight performance disadvantage to Billingsley. Billingsley has a great light, .008. Gusso’s performance is way off and he is late with a .128 light. Billingsley keeps his foot in it, and takes the easy win. This is his 6th NHRA national event win.

 

Super Stock: Justin Jenkins over Brando Bakies

Jenkins .015 light and .51 over his dial is all he needed to get by Bakies. Bakies was .040 on the tree and .36 over his dial. Jenkins pedal the stripe to make is close but was in control to get his 5th NHRA national win.

 

Stock: Brina Frank over Chris Knudsen

Frank and Knudsen are within .002 on the tree. Frank is dead on with a .006 and Knudsen gives up the stripe and the possible win. Frank gets her 5th NHRA national event win.

 

Super Comp: Christopher Dodd over Lynn Ellison

Dodd is .007 and .010 over, his 17 pack would have been tough to get in on. Ellison goes red by .004 and breaks out by .004, it could have been a tight one, but Dodd gets the win, its his 2nd NHRA national even win.

 

Super Gas: Mark Buttrum over Veron Rowland

This race was pretty much a dead heat. Buttrum is .010 and .02 over, Rowland is .021 and .010 over. The advantage goes to Buttrum as he takes the strip by .0019. This is Buttrum’s first NHRA national event win.

 

Top Sportsman: Mark McDonald over Allen Firestone

Its another tight race at the stripe. McDonald is almost perfect with a .002 light, he is .031 over his dial. Firestone is .024 on the tree, but only .011 over his dial. McDonald takes the stripe by .002 and gets his 4th NHRA national even win.
