Jeg’s AllStar Winners

This weekend at the Route 66 Nationals the 33rd Jeg’s AllStar event was held. The Jeg’s AllStar event is one of the most highly anticipated events for the competitors of the NHRA’s Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. Racers accumulate points for the event at NHRA Lucas Oil divisional races prior to the competition. The best racers, in ten categories, from each of NHRA’s seven Divisions compete. Drivers compete as a team and for themselves, for the class that racer is entered in. The purse this year for the race was an incredible $119,000. The winning team splits $20,000. The winners in Comp and Super Stock, earn $6,000 each; Top Sportsman and Top Dragster, $5000 each; and in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street, $4,500 each. Than runner-ups for all classes receive $2,000 and a travel fund of $25,000 is also included in the purse. This year Division Three took home the team win and the $20,000.

 

COMP:

Brian Browell took the win over Brian Hyerstay. Hyerstay had the starting line advantage, his .011 on the tree to Browell’s .055. Browell making up the difference running seven-tenths under his index of 7.84 to grab the win in Comp for Division Three.

 

SUPER STOCK:

James Antonette had a perfect .000 light in the final round to take the win. He defeated Jeff Dona out of Division Three. Dona was .043 on the tree and was dead on with a six on a 9.74 dial. Antonette ran a 9.822 on his dial of 9.80 taking home the $6,000 and adding to Division One’s point total.

 

STOCK:

Andrew Hill out of Division Three snagged the win in Stock over Tibor Kadar. Hill with a great light of .008 held on to take the win, breaking out, running a 10.679 on his 10.70 dial. Kadar was .038 on the tree and broke out by .020 trying to chase Hill down.

 

SUPER COMP:

Nick Folk defeated the reigning Jeg’s All Star Super Comp champion Trevor Larson. Larson was a blocker and could not add any additional points for his division. Larson could not hold off Folks .013 package. Folk was .009 and ran 8.904 on the 8.90. Larson was .024 and broke out by three-thousandths chasing down Folk.

 

SUPER GAS:

Ken Mostowich took home the win in Super Gas over Dave Kelley. Off the line, the two drivers were pretty much even. Mostowich with a .042 to Kelly’s .045. Kelly’s car fell off and slowed to 10.880. Mostowich realizing Kelly’s troubles, lifts, and takes the stripe for the win.

 

SUPER STREET:

In Super Street, it was a battle of Division Champions, Jonathan Anderson vs Josh Dalrymple. Dalrymple gets the starting line advantage, his .002 to Anderson’s .015. They both run 10.886, but Dalrymple holds on for the win.

 

TOP DRAGSTER:

In the final of Top Dragster, Phil Unruh turned it red to give the easy win to Steve Furr. Furr takes home the $5,000 purse and Jegs All-Star Trophy. This was also his second time around, but this was his first All-Star win.

 

TOP SPORTSMAN:

The final came to an abrupt end very quickly, J.J. Heber was -.233 on the tree handing over the win to Mark McDonald. This win was very important, not just for McDonald, but with this win it gave Division Three the team win at the 2017 Jeg’s All-Star Event.
