Edmond Richardson locked up the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Super Comp world championship this past weekend in Las Vegas at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The Greenbrier, Tenn., racer was leading the points at 697 coming into the weekend and made it official when Steve Casner lost in round one.  Casner was the only racer that could catch Richardson but needed to reach the semifinals to stay in contention. Casner has two wins in four final rounds this year.

Richardson scored four wins in five final rounds on his way to his fifth NHRA Lucas Oil World Championship having won the championship in Super Comp in 1989 and 1992 and the Stock Eliminator Championship in 2000 and most recently in 2009.
