Phillips, Bogacki, and Others Highlight Annual Racer’s For Kids Show

Plano, TX: For a fifth consecutive year, the Racer’s For Kids Foundation put smiles on the faces of patients and visitors at Children’s Medical Center in Plano, TX preceding the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals near Dallas September 18-21. Among the participating racers were Racer’s For Kids founders Jason Kislinski and Donna Watson, reigning NHRA Super Comp World Champion Luke Bogacki, perennial top ten finisher Tommy Phillips, Riley Ledbetter, Dan Foley, Buddy Wood, Jeff Ivy, and more.

The NHRA competitors set up their competition vehicles in front of the hospital and welcomed patients, parents, and visitors to check out the machines, meet the drivers, and take home goodie bags full of apparel, decals, driver handout cards, and more.
“We’ve been doing the Racers for Kids Car Show since its beginning 5 years ago,” Tommy Phillips explained. “It’s more humbling each year to see these kids struggles. It is however, nice to see the smiles and spend a few hours brightening their lives. I’m pretty sure myself and the other participants get as much out of these moments as the children do!”

Phillips’ K&N teammate and current NHRA Super Gas points leader Luke Bogacki echoed his friend and mentor’s thoughts. “This is the third year that we’ve been fortunate to participate in this great event. It’s one of the highlights of our season. If we do nothing else, hopefully this show presents an exciting distraction for these children and their families. We give them a reason to smile, and a chance to get excited about our sport. In a lot of cases, these folks don’t have a lot of reasons to smile. It’s nice to provide a little relief from their fight and to let them know that we’re all in their corner.”

Since its inception, the Racers For Kids program has grown in support and magnitude each season. At this appearance, the Racers For Kids Foundation provided $5,300 to the hospital, and over $3,000 in toys to patients. The Racers For Kids Foundation would like to thank all of the companies and individuals who donated cash and products to make this show the best and biggest yet.
