Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Brainerd Winners
The Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Brainerd, Minnesota proved to be full of some pretty strong competition. It has been a summer filled with close calls and incredible packages, and these racers are going to finish the season out strong. Take a look at last week’s sportsman winners!
Super Stock:
Marion Stephenson claimed his third Super Stock title against Nick Folk. Although Folk had the slight starting line advantage by five-thou, Stephenson was able to take the win on a double breakout. Folk broke out by .029 while Stephenson broke out by .005.
Stock:
Bill Feist took home his second national event title in Stock at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Brainerd against Ryan Hutar. Hutar red lit by -.033, in turn, giving the win Feist.
Super Comp:
Austin Sharpe went head to head with Travis Nygaard in the Super Comp final. Sharpe won with a .014 package while Nygaard broke out by .023. This was both drivers’ first final round.
Super Gas:
Tommy Phillips won the Super Gas final against his opponent, Jason Lynch. Phillips had Lynch on the tree by .015 and took him through the stripe; Lynch broke out by .007. This is Phillips 36th National Wally and his 16th in Super Gas.
Top Dragster:
Angie Travis earned her first national event win in the Top Dragster final with Jenifer White. She cut a great .002 light to White’s .014 light and took stripe by about 5 feet.
Top Sportsman:
Gary Loeffelholtz took home his first national event title in the Top Sportsman final against Monte Green. Loeffelholtz had the starting line advantage (his .016 to Green’s .071) and won with a .020 package.
