Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals Winners

JD2_1427The heat has taken no mercy on our sportsman drivers as we near closer and closer to the middle of summer. It was a sweltering 92 degrees in Norwalk, Ohio this past weekend but that didn’t stop these racers from claiming their titles. Check out the final round victors below.

 

 

 

Factory Stock Showdown:

David Barton took home the Factory Stock Showdown win against Bruno Massel. Although Massel had the advantage on the tree, Barton was able to catch him by the 330 and take stripe by 19 feet. Barton now has 3 national event wins in Factory Stock Showdown.

 

Comp:

Doug Doll, Jr. took out Frank Cervelli in the Comp Eliminator final. Cervelli was late on the tree so Doll, Jr. had the advantage from the get go in order to take the win. Doll, Jr. now has three wins in Comp and eight total Wallys.

 

Super Stock:

Rick Baehr claimed the Super Stock title against Nick Morris during the Norwalk Nationals. Baehr had the advantage at the starting line and won on a double breakout with a MOV of .0190 seconds. This marks Baehr’s second national event win.

 

Stock:

Joe Santangelo earned his 4th win in Stock and his 13th Wally during the Stock Eliminator Final in Norwalk. Santangelo won on a double breakout against Craig Marshall. Although Marshall had the slight starting line advantage, he couldn’t close in the gap at the finish line, in turn, giving the win to Santangelo.

 

Super Comp:

Don Higgins and Ray Connolly found their way to each other in the Super Comp final. Higgins had the starting line advantage and was able to claim the victory at the finish line. This marked his second national event win.

 

Super Gas:

Steve Collier was the final round victor in Super Gas at the Norwalk Nationals. Although his opponent, Rusty Cook, had a seven-thousandths advantage on the tree, Collier was able to catch him before the stripe and earn his second Super Gas win.

 

Top Sportsman:

Gary Wojnowski, Jr. was crowned his first ever national win after the final round in Top Sportsman against Larry Demers. Wojnowski, Jr. had the starting line advantage with a .013 light to Demer’s .048 light. Demer broke out by seven-thousandths and gave the win to Wojnowski, Jr. who had a .019 package.

 

Top Dragster:

Lauren td1

Lauren Freer scored her third national event win against Danny Nelson in Top Dragster. Although Nelson had the one-hundredths advantage on the tree, Freer still managed to get around him and take stripe by .0146 seconds.
