Justin Lamb to begin NHRA title defense at famed Winternationals as Lamb Motorsports trio kicks off a new racing season

POMONA, Calif. (Feb. 9, 2015) – When your resume leads with defending series champion, the competition will rise to the occasion anytime you pull into the water box. That’s what Justin Lamb will tackle all season as he looks to add a third NHRA crown to his career racing synopsis.

Lamb and the Lamb Motorsports brigade, consisting of the two-time NHRA champion, sister, Ryen, and Kyle Siepel will begin a new racing expedition this weekend at the season-opening Circle K NHRA Winternationals, Feb. 11-14, at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds.

Like all motivated competitors, Justin spent the brief NHRA off season looking to improve an already successful collection of race cars. With the help of Jeff Foster, Director of Operations at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the Lamb Motorsports team was able to test its stable of four race cars at the team’s home track before heading to Pomona to begin chasing round wins and NHRA Wally trophies.

Justin will kick off the 2016 NHRA season in two categories, racing his 1970 Chevy Camaro in Stock and 2010 Chevy Cobalt, that features the No. 1 on the side windows, in Super Stock. Ryen, who will enter law school later this year, will compete in Super Comp, and Siepel will drive in Super Comp at the Winternationals before shifting to the Top Dragster category at the NHRA race near Phoenix (Feb. 26-28) later this month.

“It’s good that we were able to test before Pomona and we really need to thank Jeff Foster and the staff at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for allowing us to do that,” Justin said of the team’s preseason testing results from this past weekend. “The test was beneficial because we got to try many of the things that we wanted to try out during a test session, rather than a point’s race. We learned what not to do and sometimes that’s even more important. We’re confident going into Pomona.

“The goal is to go out and win races. We want to try and win as many races as possible and if we’re in title contention in mid-season, we’ll adjust our schedule accordingly to try and win another championship. We really want to get Ryen a win in Super Comp and Kyle and I are going to race hard to win as many races as we can. Winning is addictive and we like the feeling of holding that trophy on Sunday afternoons.”

Justin, 27, earned NHRA championship honors in Stock in 2013 and Super Stock last season. He has collected 15 NHRA national event wins in 21 final round appearances. The University of Nevada Las Vegas grad has won races in six different NHRA divisions. Siepel earned two wins during the 2015 NHRA campaign and has gathered 11 NHRA ‘Wally’ trophies.

“We’re excited to add Gibtech Racing Pistons to the Lamb Motorsports teams,” Justin added.” Gibtech makes a great piston and we’re glad we run them in our Madcap engines. It’s great to have Gibtech on the sides of our Chevy Cobalt that gets to run the No. 1 on the side windows this season. We’re going to work hard to do our best to keep that No. 1. It certainly won’t be easy. The competition is very tough and it will be a challenge, but we’re up to the task.”

It will be a busy month of February for the Lamb Motorsports group. Along with competing at both the NHRA national events in Pomona, Calif. and Chandler, Ariz., they will display vehicles at Matco Tools’ annual tool expo at the MGM Grand Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, Feb. 14-17.
