You've more than done your part, there's nothing you did that's really subject to criticism. Yeah, it would be nice to declare a "winner". But how do you do it in this case? Not sure how it can be resolved. In this case, the two finalists each raced 3 cars on their way to the final round. You can't selectively choose one racer defeated by an illegal competitor to give remedy to, and exclude every other racer defeated. If they were illegal, then all three racers that each faced would be reinstated. Now you have reinstated six racers. Then what? Do you run those six racers in another set of eliminations? Do you pick the top two that were bumped, and re run eliminations? Not seeing where NHRA is going to do either. I suppose they could say the quicker of the two "losers" in the semi finals is the winner, and the other is runner up. Those two get a remedy, but the other four don't?
