Boy, that era went away fast...or did it? General rule of thumb was ..tow vehicle weighed as much as the race car and trailer. Some of them were pushing that limit. The dealer sponsored cars liked to provide a nice station wagon for the team. They got advertising that way too. Later on , the independent operators figured out how to split the expenses with a one ton or bigger hauler, and a trailer behind it . We did that , coast to coast, more than once! (Towards the end of the video, see the California teams of Neja and Dissette towing the Barkley / Ripes car out of Englishtown , I believe)
