One of the best videos I've run across that shows how it was in the "old days" is the one of the boys going across country to the U.S. Nationals in Detroit.
Go to www.youtube.com "Ingenuity in action 1959". It takes less than a 1/2 hour and is pretty entertaining.
Yes,, I've gone from flat towing with tow hubs in the '70s to an open trailer and pickup truck and now a motorhome with an enclosed trailer, so I guess I'm part of the problem, not the solution,, so sue me. My 2 cents

Yes, that is one of the best videos out there. Pretty amazing what was used back then.

Danny, you have made the standard progression in getting to the races. I know there isn't a solution to this deal. I just think the earlier versions of getting a race car to the track was more "fun". Like I have said before, it was very exciting seeing the open trailers and ramp trucks parked at motels when the boys (and girls) came to town.

With all that being said, I would like to see more of the pictures of what racers used in the past. It would be a chance to look back to the glory days of this awesome sport.

It is truly a shame that part of the reason for enclosed trailers is to prevent theft of parts and pieces from the racers. I know, when helping racers locally, they would go to the lanes and I would lock up and meet them there.

I wish I would have taken pictures in '95 with my '75 Pontiac Grand Safari Wagon towing my Skylark on a tow dolly. Graduating to the same open trailer I have now in '96 was a lot easier. Got rid of the Wagon and now use a '72 GMC pickup that looks like the "Farmtruck".
