I told Bruce I was sure one could "have" a cowl hood with that combo, but I'd research it. Turns out, not so much. The cowl hood (ZL2 option) was AVAILABLE on the Z/28 and SS models, and came included on the COPO and Pace Car. Well, you could not get the LM1 255/350 in any of those, so therefore, you could not pair a 255 with a cowl hood. Period. 300/350, yes, in both an SS and a Pace Car.

So, right is right, wrong is wrong, and the facts are the facts...
I also talked to Bruce about this issue
Bruce is a good guy that treated me with respect
As Dan Fletcher said right is right wrong is wrong
To bad all of Class racers didnt look at it the same way Dan does
We will change the hood at a cost of close to 1000.00

The 315 hp is a 1969 300/315 041 head engine. The hood is not a factor

NHRA knows there is no value in the hood
If you have proof there is a value post your proof

Marc, that is my point exactly, why different HP ratings because of the hood you are campaigning? All I am saying is that wether you have a flat hood or a cowl hood it shouldn't matter and compromise the HP rating. It should be 315 or 317 just make it the same for all.

You would have had to special order it but it was "available". The question then becomes does NHRA look at standard or optional trim on all cars for the HP guidelines, personally I dont care; however make your decision NHRA and stick with it.

Do you have any proof of this?
If you do it would really help me out?

It has been a while but I could run faster with the cowl hood with stock air cleaner base sealed to hood.

If there is no difference why do people put them on instead of a stock hood? Because it looks cool? Being able to seal the carb to the hood is worth something, at least is was on my Firebird, and those scoops are in the wrong spot compared to a cowl hood on a Chevrolet. It doesnt cost a 1000.00 dollars to put a hood on one of those cars. You can by a brand new replacement for GM for under 300.00. Maybe this will go away, or people will have extra hoods for that new 300 Hp 350 or a big block project.
