Mark, again, it is the overwhelming majority of the currently participating racers in our area that expressed their desire to have heads up races (I agree with this, and heads up races are rare, we've seen maybe 2-3 in the last 2 years at Bowling Green) and to run an NHRA class program. Thank you for the time/distance input as well, it is a big help.

I thought the people complaining about IHRA cars were not complaining about Crate Motor, Pure Stock, or any other IHRA only classes but rather legal NHRA cars running off IHRA indexes that are .3 softer than NHRA's and HP ratings that are a lot less in IHRA. I was one who asked why people were allowed to do this, but I have no problem with actual IHRA only cars.

I agree that there's no reason to have .30 difference between the indexes. It would seem reasonable to me to use the "old" indexes, then everyone's on the same playing field. I guess you could hit all the IHRA indexes .30 for your events, but not sure what that accomplishes other than telling a small number of people to stay home. Since there's no AHFS, the Index system is merely a barometer. Pick one or the other, and apply it to all.

DW explained the HP differences well. I would like to point out, however, that it's not all one-way. My HP rating is HIGHER in IHRA.

I support having heads-up runs. As Alan said, they're few and far between anyway, but it's part of what makes class racing, class racing.

Overall, I like Mike Carr's suggestion of "if the car fits both sanctions, it must run the NHRA version", although he does rightfully point out that the FWD classes are incredibly jacked up on the NHRA side, but I guess it is what it is. Doubt anyone cares about those 2 cars on the planet...

I'd like to see something at Memphis, just because I've never been there. BG is good too, of course.

I don't think it is that big of deal because most of the IHRA only cars that would come are probably too far away to come there, or they don't travel that far to begin with. About 400 mi one way is my limit. It was 350 mi for me to London KY.
When you are running a combo and have 8 sec super stockers in the field running against lower class stockers, what makes the difference if you allow a couple crate motor or stock GT or pure stock cars in? I agree that if you car fits an NHRA class that you should run at that weight and HP in the correct NHRA class. A few of the IHRA production cars have run in SS/_M at Charlotte, so it can be done. A few of the pure stocks (probably the ones that are serious enough to travel that far) can run under the regular stock index, and i think I have seen a couple of the stock gt cars make a couple changes and run an NHRA open in their regular stock class. Maybe I will try to put a Cobra Jet engine in mine and move to superstock GT. Probably have to cut off my T-Top roof and put a regular steel roof on though. When the blower starts making boost, I wouldn't want to see what would happen to the glass T-Tops. I don't know if they would get sucked in or blown out!
