The fast car/slow car debate has raged for many, many years.
I myself have been the slow car in a bracket race with a 100 mph closing speed by my opponent. When you're in the slow car you don't even think about it. One thing you guys never take into account is that both cars are moving in the same direction and it is not a true "dead" hit. Is it dangerous? Yes. Is it as bad as you think? No. Your options would be: 1. Separate eliminators for the slow cars. 2. Policing the finish line for guys too hard on the brakes. Pop a few of them and you will see it diminish. |

My guess is that if the NHRA thought it was unsafe to have that much difference in speeds it would not be the fast car that they would get rid of. Not saying they should or that it is right. Just betting with the way they think that is what would happen.

This is exactly the point I have been making all along, and that Chris (Drooze) often made to dead ears. Everybody wanted to dump on the Dodge Challenger, but we have never been the real threat. We just got some out there earlier and more visibly...
It is the supercharge mustangs that you guys really need to watch our for. All they have to do is turn the screw a little and faster they they go. We actually have to do things that make our car faster. Dodge Challengers (especially the 5.7 and 6.1) are last great pushrod naturally aspired engines. It is absolutely ludicrous that NHRA allows blown engines to play in the same sandbox as naturally aspirated. But the NHRA doesn't care a bit about stock, and the Ford Motor Company greases their palms, so anything goes. So, leave the challenger alone, and beat up on the real enemy if you feel like beating up on somebody.. Even the V10's are only one class, but you get Fords running up your tailpipe in a whole host of classes. Are you happy now? And, BTW, congrats to Drew and encouragement to Rock.
