It should start at 6.0 with .50 between the classes.

I don't see why you would need to add a bunch of classes. If I really had my way you would have A/FX only. All "paper" cars. Anything that wouldn't fit at 7.0 should go to Super Stock.

This would be a cool car at 7.0!

At 7.0, a realistic index would be around 9.50, since the weight break for SS/C is 7.0, and we've already seen a CJ in SS/BA run 8.50 @ 157 in 3400 feet of air. I bet they don't go for that. But the math is pretty close. We've seen a SS/DA CJ run a 9-teen in the same air, and the break for SS/D is 7.5.

My appologies Gump, I would very much like for my statement to be false.

But I have a feeling you'd be in the minority if you would like to run in your own class, thanks for coming out in support of it though.

Yeah, except the factor for it is 9.0.
And the shipping weight is near 3800.

I pretty much enjoy your posts, many are enlightening; I'm just trying to figure out how you can talk directly to NHRA....a long talk nonetheless....I can't get e-mails, letters answered, or anyone....ever...on the phone. Inquiring minds want to know the secret to direct access. Care to share?
I've never had a problem getting a hold of NHRA tech and that goes back to Jim Skelly. Except for maybe Danny Gracia, I wouldn't know who they were if they were standing right next to me. He's the guy that made me take the window tint off my AF/S Daytona!
Ph: 626-914-4761 x 6 for tech. And unless it's race day, I find they pick up the phone.
Good luck!

Heck, I don't think there are *that* many "real" bracket racers running in Stock and Super Stock these days! Most of the ones that do have very nice, very fast cars. I for one have advocated changes that would potentially increase heads-up runs. The ones that fight the notion are class racers with their own agenda.

Saying that bracket racers are trying to get rid of heads-up runs in S/SS racing is like saying bracket racing is too complicated to explain to spectators. It's a popular argument, but one that doesn't hold water upon closer inspection.

Just my $.02,
The primary focus of my statement was bracket racers that WANT to race in S/SS, who currently DO NOT race in S/SS. Those that DO race in S/SS and want to see heads-up runs dropped are those that are not competitive against their respective indexes.
Those names on your list were not even remotely what I was talking about.
As I said, that was my opinion and it is based on many conversations with many racers (in S/SS) over the years.
And as you may or may not have noticed over the years, I too am in favor of more heads up runs, not less. I'm definitely for sticks and autos being grouped together, 1 pound weight breaks and / or combining classes (like Top Stock grouping). But that's another topic for another thread...

I'm talking about stock. As far as the Camaro goes, if there is an A/FX class there is no reason to not allow GM a "paper" car or two! After all, how many 5.9 DP's were built?

I'm not so sure that you are right. These guys aren't doing such a great job of protecting these cars. Almost every time that two show up they get weight. They are moving up way faster than the LS1's.
