thanks for all the old school guys who support my viewpoint, i would certainly hope that the SRAC would bring this issue back for discussion ASAP and eventually return the true meaning of a class win...

I'm old enough to remember when we got FREE stuff just for showing up at a race. STP t-shirts, product, all sorts of things. My parents never had to buy me nightware, we'd just go to a race and I'd get a new t-shirt!! LOL (Now I'm dating myself. How can I be this old when I still feel 18?!!)

Torque Addict
That was well written! A good friend said 10 years ago, that the real gearheads (they work on, and build their own stuff) are constantly being pushed back and away. I think that is still true, and the new rule follows that thought.

On another similar note, look what the rich car guys are doing with their dough. My brother told me about this place in Chicago, for the wealthy to hang out, and act like gear heads. I bet you qualify here if your wallet is 1-Million heavy, without needing to win class!

its a crappy macromedia flash site, so use your best web browser!

that is true and I am more than old enough to remember that .... Especially at Indy.... they had the D&A sponsored tower and they gave out a case of D&A Speed and Sport Oil to everyone.....Champion gave spark plugs to all racers that signed up with them.....STP gave out white tee shirts with red STP logo's all over them.....Hurst's Shifty Doctor fixed shifters and or gave you parts for any Hurst shifter like bushings and clips. Just a few I can remember and it was a different era for sure in those days. Years later getting anything seems like a treat. Maple Grove has had some free racer barbeque type events that was a nice touch. Coke sponsored some a number of years back and Mickey Thompson really did a nice racer barbeque and tire give away event last year at the Lucas Series race....

Back before the rule change, I was tossed because of TOO much deck hight. The piston was supposed to stick out of the block by .004, it was -.002 down. I had set the record at Rockingham. I don't remember the date off hand. I know Art Leong has been tossed for the same thing. In both cases the short block was put together at the factory. I had never been into the motor accept to install rings and a new cam. Jim
