My experience has been most shields require some trimming and/or added tunnel clearance to fit and improve cable routing/stability. Subsequent recert by the manufacturer is therefore a no-go. Combined with drilling to permit easy band adjustments I’ve resorted to cheap SFI blankets around the shield, again that’s much easier of course on a Super Stock car.
Spotty experience with CSR, not inclined to roll the dice with them or the MSD repair in the Charlotte area.

You're exactly right. Relieve that area 1/4 inch just at the band bolt and you're out of luck to get it recertified. It's insane.
