Why even have the ahfs..Indy is the only race where you would see soft combos get the HP deserved. Oh is a democracy when enough people cry.
Really ? Tell that to Worner and Huntzberry.

This will help NHRA keep the car count up. I talked to some that were going to skip Indy because of the possible horsepower hit.

2021 Indy had the potential to be a mine shaft race..
It only took .53 under to get in but it still made it to mine shaft..Usually about .85 under to get in at Indy
With AHFS this year, you'd have a bunch of guys trying to dance around at .99 under. Doesn't sound like much fun to me.

Mark, the weather was terrible, I know, it looked intentional but I was #20 at -1.00 and it didn't get much faster all weekend. I was set up to go -1.15 in pretty good weather. Maybe some of the more unique combos stayed home but in my class the only ones faster than me were the same 2 that usually are faster than me. But they also were slower than usual.

Whatever. I don't really give a crap.

Old School SS and Stock racer, we don't have bracket cars, we race for performance. But please don't do anything to put HP on me.

I think there are several reasons that the AHFS causes so much angst among Stoch/Super Stock racers. The first reason is I’ve never see a stated goal of the system from NHRA other than the vague control out of control combinations. We can all agree it never did a very good job of that. Another reason is that there are several subsets of racers among our classes, each with different goals. There is one group that is perfectly happy running an obscure class .2 or .3 under the index and racing to win rounds. There are people in our classes that still receive their satisfaction by building all their own stuff and making it as fast as they can. There are people who are happy buying a complete car and just being able to go racing. There are your people who want to win clas and be the fastest in the land who are willing to do the work and spend the money to get there. I’m sure you can think of other subsets. We all have goals for our racing and while winning Wally’s is the top goal we each have different performance goals. I have never been the fastest in the land but going to Indy and trying to be is what keeps me thinking about our cars, talking to people about things that might help, trying different things, and going to the shop every day. With all of these different goals I don’t see how the AHFS can ever be balanced to make everybody happy. Mike McMahan 2543 G,H/SA
