The Monte is too heavy for any trans that will bolt into it. It will eat the final drive, eventually. Trust me. If you start going 1.70's in the 60' , it'll happen. There are a few FWD combos that will run under the index with a bit of work. If you really want to do this , start thinking turbo. BTW. FWD cars are not so fast in the 1/8 th mile.
