This organization ?? will do anything to save $$$. , and it’s usually at the Sportsman’s expense. I have NEVER understood their business plan but I look for a reduced QUOTA for stock and superstock next year. When you can’t get your CUSTOMERS in the track and pitted in time to make their time runs something is WRONG ....

I spoke with a person involved in the parking. This years crew was cut in half from last year and the supervisor was the only one with parking experience. The track opened 930am Sunday staging in the grass, 100 rigs could have been parked easily. Anyone with internet knew the 70-90% rain forecast would happen Monday thru Tuesday. As far as parking help goes it was funny there was a parking attendant for sportsman golf carts at the grandstand.

Thumbs up Re: INDY , 2019 parking fiasco. ...

I think we all know where their [NHRA] priorities lie especially after watching them run the sportsman finals last night after the stands had emptied. The sportsman finals were awesome last night congratulations to all the sportsman for putting on a great show.

I also heard from a few people that the reason that the parking didn’t start till Tuesday was due to the insurance not kicking in till then. I guess if they decided to park Sunday or Monday and something happened to someone it wouldn’t be covered. I’m not sure how true it is but, that was the grumblings in the stands during Friday Night qualifying. You could tell that by Tuesday Night the parking crew was worn thin and beat from being short handed, in fact some fellow .90 racers had to control the lines getting into the place because it started to become a cattle heard when they started to empty out the staging lanes. The first lanes moved and then numbers #450+ started to get in before the 290 & 300’s so they went and controlled the front of the lanes and the joke was that they should send NHRA a bill for their services...lol

I think people should quit guessing what the problem was with parking at Indy. It was a joke. The SRAC Reps from every division and every class should address this with a united effort. While NHRA can’t control the weather everyone could see the forecast and they could have adapted to the situation by parking people as they arrived. Parking earlier would have allowed an earlier start on the first day which might have meant an earlier finish on Sunday.

The core issue to this disgrace is to minimize expenses, whether it's insurance, personnel or other. It's not poor planning or management, they know exactly what they're doing, it's expenses.
At the biggest drag racing event of the year this is unconscionable. Every sportsman classed contestant should contact the following to voice their disappointment;

Peter Clifford Chief Executive Officer
Glen Cromwell President
Kasey Coler Vice President -Track Management & Operations

I know they couldn't control the weather, but poor planning is inexusable. I was one of the last ones in and around 11am one of the NHRA officials came down to the holding lot and told us, "I don't know where we're going to put you but we're working on a plan". That in my mind was inexusable not to have a Plan A, B, C, etc ready and waiting for all scenarios at the biggest race of the year.

I also found it frustrating, when being parked, to pass numerous racers that had 3, 4 and in a couple scenarios, 5 spots saved for folks that weren't there yet, and remember, this was 2:00ish on Wednesday when I was getting parked.

The core problem is that THEY who DO NOT GIVE A POOP know that there's almost no chance what-so-ever that Sportsmen Racers will stick together and do whatever is necessary to accomplish positive (for Sportsmen Racers) change.
