Even thought NHRA limits the attendance of Stock & Super Stock cars at National Events and requires grade points it has seen fit to add Shootouts to OUR National Events..........
What is the National Record for a small or large tire shootout car????? Is there a National points list for small & large tire shootout cars?????? Will small & big tire shootout cars have a National Champion?????? How many grade points do shootout cars require for entry into a National Event??????? Do small & large tire shootout cars also have oil down penalties????? Why are the scoreboards blank, without ET or MPH, for small & big tire shootout cars??????? Why is there discount ticket code (S17BODDIE) for small & big tire shootout cars?????? Best of all... Do small & large tire shootout cars get Wallys?????? What a load of crap to recognize these cars as real NHRA Racecars.... Just my thoughts on the rudderless ship known as the NHRA..... Bob

Bob I was at Sonoma this past weekend and the shoot cars were pretty cool to watch. I guess cause they were different. It was a lot better then the Force, Schumacher show. However the thing that I was wasn't happy about was the fact that the Outlaw cars got the track dragged and prepped before they came out. I can't remember the last time when they actually prepped the track for SS or Stk.

NHRA wrote a letter to Justin Shearer ( Big Chief) about how Nhra was not a active participant in the shenanigans on Street Outlaw TV show. Now Nhra has seen a cash cow and re-thought their position. I agree a National event is not a place for these cars as it makes it harder for class racers to enter the event and take up valuable pit space. All racers need points to enter a national event and not have a select group just drive in without paying their dues. I'm sure NHRA looks at what brings in the money and not look into helping loyal racers and classes. |

That type of racing is "hot" right now and their just trying to capitalize on it. It's all about "what's on TV" to capture an audience. Just like a few years back "Pinks" was the hot thing. The fans like heads-up racing cause they can easily understand it, but most racers have enough sense to know that most of the time, it's equivalent to "he with the most money wins". I wonder what the next big thing will be?

From the picture they have the correct amount of crew members lol Sounds like all the Stock and Super Stockers should form a protest during the eliminations. How many of them did they let on the starting line lol

If there were 10 each small tire and big tire cars for the shoot out, by the time you add the crews and hangers-on that's what? an extra 400-500 paying crew members and restricted area passes LOL

Bob, I'm sure they know exactly what they're doing. 70 year olds in 50 year old cars won't live forever. |
