That is exactly what I tell the racers that have me make CUSTOM 50 lb. package trays for their camaros and novas ....they then utter some nonsense about how they love to have weight up that high in their car....I then remind them that when they lock up the brakes at the finish line, turn the car sideways, this 50 lb. package tray could possibly decapitate them....Their final answer.....that's how you drive the stripe...

Wow, if you stay on here long enough you're bound to learn all these tricks. I was thinkng about putting the stock tank back in to get around having to do this, but not now.I guess that's the last thing to do After I weight the car.
PS. I'm hoping its light enough to use that trick. |

this is an older thread I started, do we have to have the package tray area upholstered or can it just be painted?

just remember that aluminum is about 1/3 the weight of steel --- so if you install a 1/2 inch thick steel gas tank shield between the OEM gas tank and the trunk floor you should be ok and exceed the NHRA guidelines for the thickness suggested. Make sure you have really good straps supporting that tank (lol)

Get some matching latex and then empty out your vacuum cleaner bag into it. If you do it right, it will look like tweed.

If we use a fuel cell and install a fire wall we should be able to leave the seat out even without a roll bar installed.
