Why not allow all of the 2008 or newer stocker combos participate?
Run off of their class indexes/weight breaks and let the best car/driver/combo win.

They can enter and run.
All others entries must weigh a minimum of 3,200 lbs.

I read it that way as well. But, how about indexes? There shows no info at all regarding indexes except for the that are set. The way I read it is that a 281 CJ would run same as a 427/435 COPO?

I suggested this last year. Indy had sixty-seven (67) 'new' cars on the property--less than half could compete in FSS. Basically FS is for A cars and higher. Open it up to all so the B-C-D-E-F-G Stockers have a shot too. Much bigger show for NHRA and the manufacturers. Plus, with the 'real' Classes/Indexes/weights, the AHFS could then apply.

Couple of things No Ahfs. it wasn't mentioned, but it ain't there. I think the first 427 bowtie got the 3200lb treatment. The new 427 is fat like the rest of us at 3350. The 75 off for the V10 is ok. If I can get my new driver Alex in the car (she weighs 115) or less than half of what the other team members, it will help.

You are supposed to be at parades!
To further clarify my confusion for you Mr Jeff, the way I read it is that your 360 DP would basically be grouped with 427 COPO, 352 CJ, 302 CJ, 392 DP, 396 COPO and on & on....all weighing 3200 lbs and running off same index???

Well, for the shootout, it is the same as last year (unblown) except the old 427 got 150lbs off, and the V10 got 75. The indexes are down a bit. I can't speak for the blown stuff, but I see there is an aftermarket intercooler, but I don't know about the rest. Chevy probably got some extra there too. The 'moving' spot between X and XX will be interesting. Smart money has people lifting early. I would not care if there was no race between blown and unblown. No parade today. Tomorrow all 4 Krewes ride because of predicted bad weather on Mardi Gras day. Over 80 floats and about 1200 riders. Should be fun. Getting more beer today.

My direct question about the AHFS was answered by Glen Gray of NHRA last night.

There is NO AHFS in the Factory shootout even though the rules said nothing about it.
