2015 Factory Stock Showdown Rules

This is from NHRARacer.com:

2015 Factory Stock Showdown Rules

NHRA Technical Department announces rules for the 2015 Factory Stock Showdown. In addition to these rules, the cars must also meet all requirements as outlined in the 2015 NHRA Rulebook. The competition includes entries from two Stock Eliminator classes with each class running as a separate category within Stock Class Eliminations, and a winner being crowned in each. The two winners will then square off for the NHRA Factory Stock Showdown Championship using a handicapped start, based on the quickest run of each class winner. Each of the two class winners will receive the NHRA Class Wally trophy with the run-off winner being crowned the NHRA Factory Stock Showdown Champion. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact the NHRA Technical Department at TechDL@nhra.com.

FS/XX:

· Index: 9.90

· Supercharged entries only

o Cars with a 2.3L Eaton supercharger must weigh a minimum of 3,300 lbs.

o Cars with a 2.9L Whipple supercharger must weigh a minimum of 3,550 lbs.

FS/X:

· Index: 10.15

· Naturally Aspirated entries only

o Entries with Chevrolet 427/450, Dodge 426/450, and Ford 429/455 must weigh a minimum of 3,350 lbs.

o 2011 Dodge V10 entries must weigh a minimum of 3,425 lbs.
All others entries must weigh a minimum of 3,200 lbs.

It is interesting that the two winners will run for the Championship using a handicapped start, BASED ON THE QUICKEST RUN OF EACH CLASS WINNER. That's a significant change from using the class indexes as was done in the past.

I wonder who will be the first one to give up the strip trying to tighten it up?:)

Jeremy, Kevin and I were wondering the same thing.

Why not allow all of the 2008 or newer stocker combos participate?
Run off of their class indexes/weight breaks and let the best car/driver/combo win.

They can enter and run.
All others entries must weigh a minimum of 3,200 lbs.

I suggested this last year. Indy had sixty-seven (67) 'new' cars on the property--less than half could compete in FSS. Basically FS is for A cars and higher. Open it up to all so the B-C-D-E-F-G Stockers have a shot too. Much bigger show for NHRA and the manufacturers. Plus, with the 'real' Classes/Indexes/weights, the AHFS could then apply.

I read it that way as well. But, how about indexes? There shows no info at all regarding indexes except for the that are set. The way I read it is that a 281 CJ would run same as a 427/435 COPO?

Yes sir, something like that.

Couple of things No Ahfs. it wasn't mentioned, but it ain't there. I think the first 427 bowtie got the 3200lb treatment. The new 427 is fat like the rest of us at 3350. The 75 off for the V10 is ok. If I can get my new driver Alex in the car (she weighs 115) or less than half of what the other team members, it will help.

You are supposed to be at parades!
To further clarify my confusion for you Mr Jeff, the way I read it is that your 360 DP would basically be grouped with 427 COPO, 352 CJ, 302 CJ, 392 DP, 396 COPO and on & on....all weighing 3200 lbs and running off same index???
