To me it seemed unbiased as he showed the additive helping and hurting various oil. It also showed the ranking of oils 1-124 or whatever. The question is, is this a valid test? I would say his results might be unbiased and correct for what he did, but is it the correct test? Is he answering a question that wasn't asked?
In other words, he's checked what is the best ford to buy, and he might have a correct list of fords by ranking, but the real question is, what is the best CAR to buy. See the difference? His list of fords is correct and unbiased, but how valid is this test in the real world. (of course Ford IS the best car to buy but that's besides the point LOL!!) |

I just went back & re-read it. I can't find that part? All I saw was more guys talking about how long they drive between oil changes. Could you provide a link to that information? What he discribed sounds like what I was shown at the local Sun refinery lab many years ago.

Vic , I use 10w30 valloline VR1 works well , cam lasts 2 years , bearing no problems . The 5w30 pennzoil ultra syn maybe better or lucas 10w30 race syn. ( sponsorship ). Whats better for the rings I would ask Bub . He told me its gotta say its for racing .

The three race engine builders I respect most, of those who I am acquainted with, all tell me to seat the rings with Joe Gibbs BR30. I have been running Valvoline 10W30 racing oil in the black bottle this past year, NAPA store here has it in 6qt boxes. Cleanest oil filters I have had, can hardly tell the coated bearings have been run. Used to buy and carry Royal Purple "Race9" 0W10 oil in case I ever felt like I needed to "hop it up". After reading that I have wondered about Mobil1's 0W20 gas mileage oil for that. Would not be as hard to throw that much cheaper oil away after 1 or 2 passes. :-)

From the article, I got (without the additives) the following:
4. 5W30 Motul 300V Ester Core 4T Racing Oil, synthetic = 112,464 psi This Motorcycle Road Racing oil is from France 8. 10W30 Lucas Racing Only synthetic = 106,505 psi 9. CFS 0W30 NT Millers Nanodrive Racing Oil, API SM synthetic = 105,907 psi. This oil is from England 10. 5W30 Mobil 1, API SN synthetic = 105,875 psi 12. 0W30 Amsoil Signature Series 25,000 miles, API SN synthetic From my own reading , I would get an oil that STARTED with 0W & then your pref ....

Have had good results with Prolong in the past; probably quit using it to save money.

For those that want to read even more about the subject, here's a site from another Engineer.
