Because it was fun and I enjoyed it. I 'retired' in 2006; fed up with the NHRA/IHRA bull[bleep]. The costs went up, the fun went down, and I could/would not justify spending a thousand dollars and four days over three hundred miles from home and *hope* that, maybe, it'd be kind of fun. No plan to return. I enjoy doing the TSSSSA races and that keeps me involved in racing, seeing my friends, and it's more fun/less hassle than the way it was.

Cal:
I started the summer of 1964 at Charlestown R.I. after watching my older brother and his friend's in 1963. I started out with an H/Gas 1939 Chevrolet 6 cyl coupe and had a blast and was hooked. I did some street racing like everyone and built a C/MP 1955 Chevy until I went in the service (1967). When I came home I opened a Speed Equipment Shop here in Ma and raced my E/FO Stocker (AAR Cuda) with a Grand American Class Win in NH. We took a 10 year leave to raise the kid's then we went SST Racing in 1999 and won a Divisional with my son at E-Town in 2000 with our 1927 Ford Roadster and next year we will be running Stock Eliminator with two entry's and that is why we do what we do along with the nice people we have meet at the race's. Hope you get the bug as we did as I don't regret 1 event or any of the car's - Bob - Marie - Brett and Brooke (now with Husband's - Wives and Grand Son's) |
