Brain's OK? Your thinking $10,000 was do-able in 1969? I'm making $1.65/hr pumping DX Super Boron @ .29/gal. trying to swing 36 equal payments for my '69 396/375 Nova that listed for $3,625, lying thru my teeth to my Insurance guy that it was a small V-8 to pay for premiums.....'ya sure, coulda had a ZL-1 for $7K plus and had the $3 in the pocket!!!
Better have that brain checked again! Just kid din' ol friend.....take care |

$3.50 an hour in 1969? Yes, he was your uncle. Everybody else in the country was making less than 1/2 that.

I didn't get to mess with cars in earnest until I was out of HS. I well remember the insurance racket. I passed on a lot of neat cars. The car I could afford, it was the insurance that was the killer. Those were the days, I remember passing on a 67 Corvette 427-425hp single carb motor, $2500 I believe, 1973. Don't recall the premium they required but do remember it was expensive.
