What does AMCs have to do with anything? Make the Hemi cars run with everybody else. MOPAR supports the Shootout, that is a special show. Guess IHRA has to try something.

I am going to race pure stock this year at a few races and s/ss combo races locally. My car is on the lift with most of the mods we are allowed to do already done. I have not done anything with the camshaft or springs yet awaiting for the final say on what is allowed. I like the idea of leaving the camshaft and springs stock the way they came from the factory. I am running this class to keep costs down, learn how to make a car run under the index with the power that is supplied from the factory and to have fun with my 16 year old son. This is my opinion and my opinion only.

Except I'd have to ask, with such a limited number of cars, spread across 9 different pure stock classes, how many times last year did a pure stock car actually have a heads up?

Same is true for any Stock/SS racer. Except for national events where class is run, how many times during the year does any racer actually have a heads-up? Most people don't like them. The few that enjoy that type of racing (usually having the fastest car in the class helps $$$$) seek them out. It won't be any different for Pure Stock racers, just cheaper, and that is the bulk of the argument for the category. That is also the reason why "any OEM appearing valve spring" is a bad idea.

Once guys start experimenting with new cams and springs (and you know they will) and ETs come down indexes will be lowered and guys trying to do it with stock long blocks will be on the outside looking in. It will eventually kill the class. Scott |

Are they going to accept the current 5.0 mustang in pure stock? Have a friend in San Antonio that may want to try his hand at it.
