I would like rules left, but where do you come up with specs for post 86 cars? duration, overlap, spring pressure has been left out of NHRA specs since 86 and that is what IHRA uses.
I have a lot of time in making my car work like it is,but if this rule sticks,my springs will definately be changed and most likely cam will be changed too, then whatever changes car needs afterwards. Mike Taylor 3601 |

My calculation,19 different Pure Stockers raced in 2013.
Total 43 pictures are posted on the Pure Stock Photo Gallery. Recently added Phil Baldiccino's A/PS Max Wedge Corbitt Marshburn's B/PS 95 Camaro, Bob Davenports G/PS 96 Caprice. Need to find Corbitt's G/PS Caprice SS Wagon he sold. Brent Darroch raced his D/PS Camaro at Mason Dixon in November. There are more PS racers out there and want their pictures. I get emails from racers with questions building Pure Stockers. Helped a racer get his new 2013 V6 Mustang classified. Now that Classification Guides are updated this will improve the Class. A little marketing more racers will take a crack at Class Racing. It is a cost effective class to build and maintain. If somehow Imports are added the whole class will grow faster. My estimate in 2014 there will be about 25 Pure Stockers racing. Will do my best to improve these numbers. Dan Last edited by Dan Fahey; 12-24-2013 at 11:36 AM. |

With the new cam and spring rules you will see way more cost involved (assuming you want to maximize the performance that come with the new cam). You now need new springs the cheap stock replacement ones will not cut it (read more expensive springs) Now that you have much more spring pressure you will probably need different lifters to handle the extra pressure. (once again read more expensive). Now with all that changed you will need to get a different converter and can probably use a rear gear swap also to maximize all the other changes ( guess what more money out the door again). |

Everyone did when they changed the rules for Stock. Think this would not be any different? More money expense, read Novassdude's posting. Considering the ROI, drop in Purses and Contingencies it is tough to run a full Stocker today. The new rules will kill PS ! Like TarHeal, would rather run Brackets. I like racing real Streetable cars, like Stock was intended to be. There has been an ill intent coming from racers wanting to kill Pure Stock. Received dirging comments in the past saying it is not real Stock. Well, here is your golden opportunity to kill PS. If it happens I am gone. Despite their ire, there is a growing interest in Pure Stock. If it is going to survive I will be here to improve our lot. However we need other advocates to speak up. Cannot do this alone.. First rule you never go into a Gun Fight without a KNIFE!! Once the bullets are spent everything is up close and personal. Harry: Almost happened to me. Looking forward to the challenge! Is that not what racing really is? To win the Challenge? Dan Last edited by Dan Fahey; 12-24-2013 at 01:26 PM. |

Yes, it's *that* ridiculous. People are actually promoting the sport and building cars. Positive support is a GOOD thing. All the downplaying is completely bizarre.
