I think more than anything it's the sound of a stocker or super stocker firing up, idling, and running down the track. Also, it's the best car show there is (kinda partial to the older vehicles myself). Of course, picking up a tenth or two here and there and doing the work yourself is extremely rewarding. Ron.

I just think I can learn so much about the sport I have loved for 50 of my 64 years, by listening to, and asking advice from.............. Class Racers..

I'm new to racing class after a couple years of brackets. As a kid I loved growing up at the track and watching these cars that looked like they were right off the streets stand on the bumper, and listening to the high winding stick shift cars row through the gears. Watching 15 second stockers get chased down by 9 or 10 second stockers and all of it made me hooked. I was lucky enough to be able to accomplish a goal from when I started racing in 2007 still in high school and that was make my S10 a stocker. I got the chance to run a couple combo races this year and pulling into the lanes with this elite group that I watched as a kid growing up and dreamed being a part of, I finally was able to be part of the show

What I love about class racing is whole craft of the game that continually makes you think, think, think to run with the best. From the tiring research of out- engineering the factory engineers to finding a few more hp’s to the quick look at the flag before your last dial number goes on, class racers are the most intelligent, competitive, driven racers on the planet, and the beauty is….anyone can join and do it too.
My favorite things: • Waking up to the screech of the track being dragged in the AM, knowing it’s for us. • The first call, “Stock to the lanes!” or “Super Stock to the lanes!” depending on what I’m driving first. • The flip of the coin “do you have a lane preference?” and all the personalities that go with that encounter. • The research and talent of qualifying on the ladder where you want (Thanks NJ Stats!), picking a spot and nailing it. • Taking my thumb off of the button on the last yellow and knowing it was way close! (They’re in trouble now!) • The tight top end racing (who took that stripe?) • Your win light on! • Watching the best drive the stripe when your day ended early. What the best thing of class racing? All of it; the challenges of your class rules, the friends, the food, the travel, the struggles, the victories, the coulda, woulda, shoulda’ s, the bench racing, looking at a Wally on the way home and knowing you were the best that day. What more could you ask for a car guy? Thanks Wally Parks! Brian Thompson P/SA 6665 SS/MA 6665 |

Thanks so much to all of you who posted your thoughts on why you like class racing. We had some great posts, so instead of just one winner, Jack and myself decided to have a runner up. The runner up will receive a T-Shirt and decals.
The winner is Julie Jordan, very touching and thoughtful, it is why I still race. Thanks so much Julie. Runner Up is Carl Juliano, well said Carl. Julie and Carl please email me so I can ship your gifts out tomorrow. admin@classracer.com Thanks again everyone Ken

Congrats Julie, I loved your post, it brought back memories... My brother and I grew up watching our dad race in the 70's and 80's.
Thanks to Ken and Jack for the R/U. I didn't expect it, I just wanted to add to a really cool thread. Really nice....thank you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all Carl
