I built car 96 or 97 was auto and could drive ran around 9.20 first time out if remember correctly index was 9.10 then, had 10'' street conv. had coan build me 8'' went 8.80's with converter change, and driving on street was over.
Have kept working on it ever since got stuck in 8.50's for awhile then went back to 8.60's 8.70's for awhile then went to 8.30's. Set my first record @ Farmington 1999,Bobby Butler had set @ 8.65,I set to 8.52,then he set it a month or two later to around 8.27 was 1/2 lbs w/breaks then we were K/PSA Don Hayward's mustang, held several record for several years, and one of the Mc Gee twins held it w/their 402 chevlle wagon then took me till 2010 to set my second, stood for 2 years reset last year and set E/PS also then set D/PS this year. If I left any of K/PSA F/PS record holders between 1999-2013 it was'nt intentional,I don't want anyone to be left out. E/PS is natural class for my car can move up or down one class,F is only one I can get close to min. weight,so I like to run F/PS. Have been working on engine for K/S,don't know when I'll get done, and not sure if going to put in the silver car,it works good as is,I hate to mess up a good car,I have red malibu that I ran in V/S from 1989-1991 sold rolling and got back 16 years later, don't know if will put pure stock combo in red car or put K/S combo in it,I would also like to get my V/S combo out again also,229(3.8) chevy Mike Taylor 3601 |

Probably at the beginning of the Bader era. I went to work for him in 2000, and I think Pure Stock had been cut back to A through I by that time. Prior to that, though, I remember seeing Russ Parker at Beaver Springs with a Z/PSA Malibu!

I never have got to set any 1/4 records because I have'nt been able to go to any 1/4 pro-am's. I thought I might be able to make it to Michigan, but insurance bill that showed up last week says,I'm not going anywhere in amount due spot.
It's been awhile since anyone held 1/4 mi F/PS record,it would look good with your name on it Dan. Mike Taylor 3601 |

Darlington looks possible. But looks like they are set up for a 1/8th mile. Wondering if they will allow a 1/4. One of the ways get Pure Stockers more recognized. Get our names on the Record books and create our own legends. Dan |

You're car kind of sounds like mine. I bought it off a car lot in Nov. 2010 with 180K miles. I have never taken a peek under the valve covers because the engine runs so good. All I did was put 4.56 gears in it and an AODE shift kit. (well worth the time and money) Still has the stock toque convertor and heavy D.O.T. street tires. Barely ran the I/PS index @ London 2012 at 1,400 ft.(Bottom pic) Ran 14.30's at Bowling Green Oct 2012 (top pic) Lots of room for improvement for the car. ![]() ![]()
