I have never been to a track that didn't allow cars to be started until the announcer called cars to the lanes. You only have to be the first pairs down the track, not to the staging lanes.

I have to say this makes me laugh. The people they are waiting for are making money at a national event. DUH!

at the dutch last year or the year before ,I waited 20 minutes after the first call then went up.Bob Bender and I were the only two car there after 30 minutes.Bob Lang sent us down (so much for 1st round random pairing ) He said "get ready ,we will use you two to motivate the rest of them to get up here" .So we went down and I made it back to my trailer, then walk to the fence just as the 2nd pair of cars went down the track.so I see their problem.

This was done the past year in Division 3 successfully for the most part. I had the fortune of being in the first pair twice in a row, Indy & Norwalk. I do recall a spot "being saved" for one the notorious late comers at the Indy divisional. He finally showed right before they pulled us up, but of course his lane choice had already been made by his opponent and rightfully so.

[quote=Patrick Kelliher;372291]One problem with first round is that you can't start your engine until first call. So if you start your car as soon as possible, you can't do a morning warm up before you must be at the lanes. If they want the morning to get going, start with classes like the Super Classes that don't have that problem. [quote]
I support this approach Last edited by Bill Pomponi; 03-08-2013 at 03:50 PM. |

D5 has had first round pairings the last couple of seasons, at the races I attended. Great Bend Divisional 1st pair, a guy received a single, as his opponent did not show up in time. I think it's a great way to get things moving, or start giving singles to the people that have their act together.

I think if you can get to the lanes on time for ANY round and your competitor cannot show up on time , you should recieve a earned bye run.
I've been told to just get in my car at the end of the line and wait untill my pair finally showed. ....in one case only one pair was left in front of me when my competitor showed up.....Total BS. Should be the rule for every class , Period. If you are running two classes, get more help or less cars.

The way I see it is some of the bottom pack that are playing the ladder do so because they can. Now they will play it a different way!
