New D1 Rule for Stock/SS

I just got this email from Kent Hanley, our D1 rep:

Good morning,

Below is a new policy that has been adopted for our D-1 LODRS events (Opens are random pairing first round). This should help alleviate some of the delays in getting the morning started. I believe this will also be in effect at all National Events and I believe will be adopted for all 7 Divisions. We will post the ladder with the first 3 pairs Highlighted on the ladder.

The first three pairs to run in the first round of eliminations will be designated on the ladder. These will be the pairs of the three lowest qualifiers in the field, regardless of which side of the ladder they may be on. I.e. for a 90-car ladder this would be #45 vs. #90; #44 vs. #89 and #43 vs. #88 qualifiers. The balance of the eliminator field is to immediately follow the designated pairs. Large size fields will initially be called to the lanes as the designated pairs and right side of the ladder. The three designated pairs must be in the lanes and ready when eliminations are called. Failure to be at the head of the lanes ready to run may result in single runs.

FAQ's

1. Will this apply for 2nd round or later rounds? NO

2. Will this apply to 2nd rounds Sunday morning ? NO

3. What happens if i am running 2 cars and in the class that runs prior to Stock and SS and cant get back in time to be the first pair down? YOU BETTER BE ONE OF THE FIRST PAIRS DOWN IN YOUR OTHER CAR TO MAKE SURE YOU CAN GET BACK IN TIME

4. If there are other pairs in the lanes do I have to go first or can they? NO YOU HAVE TO GO FIRST IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE 3 PAIRS

5. Does this apply to any of the other paired classes like Comp, TD, TS ? COMP IS ALL READY ON A SYSTEM AND THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN ISSUE WITH TD OR TS TO WARRANT

Does anyone know of anyone in D1 who might be both at the bottom of the ladder and also always one of the last people to show up to race? In others words, do you think this is aimed at getting certain people to show up to race on time?

No more sleeping in if your at the bottom of the pack. I think it's a good move and it should apply to all

Anything that gets people in the lanes quicker is good by me. I waited fro 15 minutes at one race from the first call before going up, and was still one of the first cars in the lanes. Ridiculous.

Here in Div 4 they have drawn numbers for the first pairs.

One problem with first round is that you can't start your engine until first call. So if you start your car as soon as possible, you can't do a morning warm up before you must be at the lanes. If they want the morning to get going, start with classes like the Super Classes that don't have that problem. This proposed method only "fixes" first round, and the old class car chasing will be back in full swing. Almost like buying a first round win.

In My opinon Super Stock should be ran after super comp any way as they would kinda of prepp the track with their burn out across the line and and our wheel will never be in their wheel base :)

Several years ago division 2 designated the first 2 pairs in every class and every round. Did that for a few seasons but haven't done it for a while now.
