For those of you who don't know, I've worked for a former AMC dealer for over 37 years , and have worked on the owners, and my own AMX'S since '72 ,so I have a little knowledge about AMC's.
I still have all the factory parts books from '66 thru '76, including the group19 sections, which were only 4 pages....ALL group 19 parts were over the counter, dealer,or owner installed only.
The Edelbrock R4B intake is listed p/n 4488409 and had factory part numbers cast on them for both '69-'69&'70&up engines.
The group19 cam to my knowlege, and I installed quite a few of them, had .477" lift.
The group19 Holley carb,p/n 4885730 was actually a Holley 950cfm 3 bbl,list 3916.
Just imagine if that carb was approved instead of the 780 !
Also available were 4bolt main blocks, and even a 8 quart oil pan P/N 4485741.
While I'd love to see what can be done with these new parts, and I'm really glad to see the 4300 Motorcraft carb superceeded, only the surface was scratched with regards to potential without these parts.

Tom, so I guess I should ask for all the trans am parts that were in the Chevy parts book in 1970 and 1971. It seems to me that I remember something in the rule book saying that special dealer only installed parts were not legal. I know that in 1969 the cross ram manifold with 2 holleys and the off road cam was available on the Z28 from the factory in the trunk and yet that has never been legal. Where does all this bs come from?

I don't know Greg.
The carb replacement on the '70 is good since the Ford's have had it for a replacement for the 4300 for years.... the rest is someone playing the AMC version of Caroll Shelby.
The '68-'69 T/A Javelins also ran the crossram with 2 Holley 600's so I don't know where the Holley 780 comes from on the '68-'69 cars, especially since the hp rating was pretty close with the AFB carb.

Nice videos,, Garrett. The motor sounds great,, launches well,,, good luck and have fun getting it sorted out. Its a great looking car, and I like how you did your gauges and saved the original dash,,, take care.

Just think Greg -- that CrossRam is going to look great under your hood ...........You might need the Optional Hood for proper clearance .And that Off Road cam is going to need Roller Rockers to perform well .............And you're right -- its all BS .

Do they get a 2.2 crank pin instead of a 2.438, Dove heads, 527 lift cam, 780 carb instead of a 735, and Edelbrock heads. That was 15 years ago. What happened to the loud voices then, its still wrong and a bunch of BS.
