The payouts for the Divisional races is up to the track`s discretion. If you have a complaint, write your local racing facility. I think ends up a topic on this forum once a year.

National events do not count as grade points.

Here's the link for D4 payout info.

Most of the races we get 80-100 plus cars.

If we get 100 x $170.= $17,000. They are only paying out $3300-4000 tops.

That's a nice profit for someone(s).

Pete, the problem is that NHRA gets a big flat fee for bringing in the points meet. This fee has gone up substantially in the last 20 years. For some of these tracks, it's the biggest event they have all year. Some of them, in certain demographic areas , couldn't possibly make much profit when it's all said and done.
They just do it for the boost in exposure, and maybe an ego thing too.
Edgewater used to get 550-600 cars, and they don't have a Divisional anymore.
Believe me,...and some of you guys know this, if there was much money to be made with a points meet, they'd still be having one.

I understand Cordova had quite a crowd Friday and Saturday night.

Now , has anyone found the Div 5 payout schedule for 2012 ? I searched the archive on their site, and still don't see it.
I guess S/C was over 64 cars, so the semi's paid more last night, but still, a 5th round loss, $150.00? still sucks.
I think the additional revenue should go back into the middle and later rounds..Agree or disagree?

Not necessarily. Word in D3 is the track owner did not want the Alcohol cars at his LODRS event. When he was told he had to have them there, he gave up the event!

Back in '08 I was in a meeting with Mr. Weinle and one other individual and this individual made a comment to Mr. Weinle to the effect of him (Edgewater) loosing the div 3 points meet and Mr. Weinle quickly corrected him and said "I did not loose it". He went on to say that it wasn't a profitable business decision. The way I understood it is that he had to pay NHRA about $30,000 to get them to have the points meet there. Needless to say he was insulted by the comment.

You haven't accounted for the expense to actually own and run a track. Taxes, staff utilities etc. A divisional up here used to make money for the track but that's usually not the case anymore. I believe NHRA charges $15,000.00 for the privledge plus you have to buy additional insurance from them for another $5000.00. Add in advertising/promotion and they are in a big hole before the gates open. Bad weather or low car count and it kills the track. That's why a lot of the smaller tracks (at least out West) won't hold divisionals any more.

All true (not sure about the current fees).
Lucas and NHRA does provide some of the local promotion..TV ads, print media, with the package.
BTW , I never meant to criticize the host tracks for the specific payouts. They are certainly justified in trying to make a profit on this deal.

I understand track expenses and all, but all i listed was Stock Elim money taken in
at $17,000.
Div. 1 gets at least: SST- 60 cars SG- 60 cars SC- 90 cars SS- 70 cars.
That's 280 more cars x $170. entry fee, plus crew members, at least 1 person x $50.

Now if my math is correct that equals with 1 crew member going counting Stock Elim.

$68,000 taken in minus Comp. Elim. Racers & Their Crew Members.

Believe me I enjoy racing and do not expect to make tons of money doing so.
It's a Great Hobby for me & i enjoyed racing & not racing for over 40 years.

It seems like the pay-outs haven't changed in all these years, thats why i was
suggesting to other racers to put in an extra 10 or 20 to make our own purse bigger.

OK let the battle begin.
