You can bet that's exactly what will happen with the 2013 model. Simply update (maybe nothing to change) and drive away with a new car, new transmission and improved performance capabilities. (And maybe a new index as well.)

Billy I guess you are right. Did I believe that it was such a sore subject, not really. On the reasoning behind the 3speed, if I had to guess, MOPAR went off of the original CJ's with the 2speed. So we were even, then the CJ's were avaliable with a 3speed and started really flying. So we went to our factory rep as well as NHRA and ask for a 3speed as well but were shut down. So hince that is why I was asking what fellow racers opinions were on the matter. Trust me I am living with what I've been giving. I've been luck enough to have been racing for 16 years now and I'm very happy where I am now. I have been racing the 2speed since it came out, with a BIG smile. I would just like to step up and play with the CJ's and I believe that a 3speed would help that step.

The original CJs had 3 speeds. The only CJs that Ford put a 2 speed in were the big blower 4.0L SS only cars.

Joseph, if you could buy the car, as is, with a three-speed, I would have no problem.

If the car came, as is, with a two-speed only, sorry, that's what your stuck with.

NHRA gave in, in S/S, a few years ago and allowed cars that came with only a two-speed automatic, to run a three-speed; also allowed cars that had three speed manuals only, to now run a four speed stick (wasn't in favor of either--you knew going in what you could/couldn't have).

Who knows...in a few years, maybe Stock will be that way too. "Any corporate transmission is accepted".

I don't believe that is correct. I believe they were all sold with a 2speed but a 3speed was being "developed" so it superseded the 2speed from the beginning

First of all , no one makes an aftermarket case for a C 4 ,as far as I know.
Therefore , the brand new factory ringer Mustangs must have come with a junkyard trans core from the 70's
Do you guys realize how ludicrous , or I guess I should say how even MORE ludicrous this is?

At least the PG/ Powerflite/ Fordomatic/ Dedenbear/Reid equipped cars came with all new parts.

http://jalopnik.com/5075921/2008-cob...-noise-at-sema

"The Cobra Jet gets a beefed up 5.4-liter V8 with a cold air intake, A/C delete, 9-inch rear end, a six speed manual or three speed auto, a roll hoop and a specialized suspension."

Mark, I know, it is ridiculous, I do not think they should be in stock eliminator at all. I was in Columbus looking at the Skillmans' new 2013 CJ and it's a really, really cool car, but I don't think it's a stocker.

I am use to being ignored on this forum but no matter - I am enjoying this thread

However - I actually said it in one of my previous posts in this thread

NHRA tech already told me last week we will get the 3spd just probbaly not until the end of the year

Now let the whining really start

Congrats on the win, now you can concentrate on getting the blower. Maybe you can have it by...say....Indy 2013?
