There are a couple of different ways to answer your question,IMO the best bang for your horsepower buck is without a doubt Dave Layer at Heads Up, he sells a VERY competitive product at a very fair price and gets it done when he says he will and most importantly to us is the fact that the stuff always passes tech like it should. As far as the SBC, and most super stock engines in general Dave is the man. Is there better stuff available? Well of course there is, but for what its worth there is always better stuff available in every aspect of racing and life in general for that matter, but the amount of money that you will spend versus the improvements that you will see can get into the kind of money that could get you two, and sometimes even three sets of heads from Dave for E.T. differences of anywhere from .001 to a tenth. But the people that are able to do this type of work for you are almost always involved in some other form of racing so it can sometimes take 6 months to a year just to get you stuff back. I find it a little humorous that most of the stuff that I have seen that is supposed to be better than Dave's stuff is usually built out of his heads in the first place, including some that I have seen from the above mentioned gentleman. On a closing note, i've got a pretty good feeling that if somebody called Dave and said "Hey, I'm interested in buying a set of "xxx" small block chevy heads from you and am willing to pay you an extra ten grand on top of the package price that you already quoted me, are you interested in trying to make me something better?" I am pretty sure that he would be more than happy to discuss the matter with you.

Thumbs up Re: Super Stock Cyl. Heads

Ken , I believe theres alot of choices out there . However Gary Hettler would be #1 in my opinion . I've had great service and he stands behind what he dose . He'll help you out in many other ways too if he's got some ideas on your combination . Good news he's back on the east coast .
