The way I see it...IHRA is trying to do something really great for us racers, guaranteeing $5000 to win plus contingency for $200 to enter. If they have to have $100 buybacks to help augment the purse, so be it. Compare that to $1800 to win in NHRA for $305....

Buybacks are the equilivent of having a nanny gov't to take care of your needs.
We need more buybacks.Too bad they don't have them in ther sports. Then: 1)My Islanders could have the game back they lost to Edmonton in 1985.Then they could have won a fifth championship in a row. 2)Bill Buckner's miscue in the 1986 World Series. 3)Give back Bobby Thompson's home run against the Dodgers. 4)My ***** light last year at MG national event in the semis. 5)I bet the Germans would like buybacks for the wars they screwed up.Let's not even mention the French.

Mark I agree with you, I like the idea. The sad part is we do not have that option.

If you want buybacks, go to your local track and bracket race! I have voiced my opinion to the IHRA officials on the buybacks! Now, if more of you "class racers" would attend these events, they would not have to offer buybacks to generate more income!!! So I blame IHRA, the host track, and the "class racer" who does not attend these Sportsman Spectacular races for the buyback option!
This weekend is a perfect example of what I mean! You have a packed house at an open race that you pay $170 to enter, to win $1000, when you have 45-64 car fields in a race that costs $200 to enter and pays $5000 plus contingency! Or, travel 1000 miles to go to a points race!! All of you who bitch and complain on here about NHRA and their fees and low payouts, just keep your mouth shut on here! You have nothing to bitch about and I don't want to hear it anymore!! |

i can't speak for anyone else. simply my own input. im happy for all that summit is doing for sportsman racing...don't get me wrong. but this just seems to go against the grain.

I think I would rather see some sort of a consolation race. I was at VMP and didn't do the re-entry race.
