Wonder if the 08 Shelby that you could buy for the street is on the books, I thought it was but I have not looked in a long time. Not sure how hard it is to convert a CJ body to a Shelby body but it would be cool to see someone run one of these cars like it should be run in stock. 08 Shelby should be factory rated @ 500hp x 7.5 + 170 = 3920 to run AA/S. Also not sure just how different the engine spec are for the CJ/ Shelby but I don't think its alot in 08 anyway. Would still run 9.50's in AA @ 3920 I think

Take the car shipping weight of 3240 add the 500 subtract the jockey weight of 170 divide by AA 7.5

= 476....

476X7.5= 3570 +170 =3740....

475

I am not sure how that will ultimately play out with the new max weight rule....But thats a math quandry for a different day....but it sort of looks like now your max weight for say a CJ auto @ 461 is 3740.....and not the 8X461+170

Driver weight is never considered in calculation for class. It is only added to the classification weight for weight at the scales. The minimum vehicle weight to run AA/S with a power factor of 476 is 476 x 7.5 = 3570. The 170 lb allowance for the driver weight is added to that to determine a scale weight : 3570 + 170 = 3750 That number would be placed on the side window for the people at the scale to reference.

If you want to calculate the maximum horsepower in question for the 2008 CJ, use the shipping weight of 3240 and add 500 to it (the maximum allowable ballast). That total is 3740. Then divide by the AA/S 7.5 weight break (3740 / 7.5). The answer is 498.67. That causes me to question NHRA's decision and calculations.

491 x 7.5 = 3682.5 3683 - 500 = 3183

Their claim of 610 lbs. means 3240 + 610 = 3850. I don't know where they get that.

491 x7.5 =3682.5 +170= 3852.5 -610 = 3242.5 rounds to 3240. They included the driver!

So at 466 they only have one more hit to go with the autos. Who will be the one to throw them under the bus? And you guys thought Barton got crap for his run. Tom

Warren Johnson has been saying that for years about every class.

In my case, that has been a cold hard fact, on numerous occasions.
