Seems like a lot of negative feedback for something we are supposed to be supporting.

This is a straw man argument. I don't know how many times the payout structure needs to be explained. (OR what this thread has to do with IHRA) When paying round money, the payout "at three cars" is dependent on the number of rounds the race goes. I've gone more rounds to get to the semis of NHRA Div. and Nat'l Opens, and still lost money on the weekend.

THE POINT of my post was for people to make informed decisions. I wasn't putting the Indy race down... we don't know hardly anything ABOUT it yet (which again, is the whole point). Just be careful, guys, because big money bracket racing went down the road of promoting only the top line on the flyer. Some promoters earned a phenomenal reputation by making racers *think* they were getting a deal. You can compare two different $20,000 to win races and find the total purse being thousands and thousands of dollars different. A racer's potential return on investment hinges on FAR more than just "how much does it pay to win?" Entry fee, buybacks (and how they are structured), car count minimums, the complete payout structure, number of days of the event, etc.

You are wasting your typing fingers (or breath) Michael....some on here have NHRA tattooed on their azz and it dosent matter what you explain to them. Its a free world and they will do what they think is good for them yet they will still bash anything else or any other race that isnt what they do. My only point in my prior post was why do they always put a race on top of any other race that is not an NHRA race? The car count would have to hurt them also for doing this. Are they that desperate to try and make the other race a looser and look bad ? The Brian Vanpople and Lee Zane race is the best thing to come along in a very long time in the payout dept. and its one reason I support it for stock and S/S no matter the towing distance. Each to their own.

I have raced IHRA before in fact I won a IHRA pts race a long while back. I have no axe to grind with them or NHRA for that matter. I chose to race the races that have the most APPEAL to me. And a $4000 combo race hour and half from my house with NHRA tech there (Bruce), on a 1/4 mile track, and with heads up runs is very APPEALING to me. Especially if you are allowed to leave your trailer there over the week in between with security present.

I doubt it will pull any cars from Van Poppel & Zane's race. And I doubt it will affect the IHRA pts race car count in London by more than 10%. So maybe 4 total less Stock and Super Stockers. It won't make or break either race.

Speaking of short term, not to long ago on here you were pushing everyone to support your local Stock/SS associations and combo races. Well this is one more LOCAL combo race that needs our support......................

Jeremy, I support our local combo races which is more than you do. Andrew and I both are at BG and Ohio Valley most of the time there is a combo race. To schedule this deal on top of the other two races is a little suspicious.

I am glad you find 1/8 mile racing, buybacks, random card draw pairing, and questionable track prep appealing. I don't.......

As far as Bowling Green combos My Father and myself have raced them in the past and will race some in the future. I have work and Family events that have to be balanced with racing and can not make every one.

Hope to see you and Andrew at the races this year. Good Luck buddy!
