Could somebody answer the question on why a Dodge Challenger ( showroom stock , streetable, complete, driveable as delivered with a VIN number) was never submitted to the NHRA by Chrysler . Why would you submit half a car that has nothing to do with what they are selling in the showroom and submit a HP rating so low that nobody believed it but NHRA. And NHRA puts it in STOCK !!!!!!! WHO IS REALLY RESPONSIBLE ?

Dan Dvorak must be finding this whole season very amusing.

Well, for one, the factory advertises the SRT8 at 425 hp. With that rating, it would never be competitive in Stock. Why you ask? Simple. No compression, no 1000 cfm throttle body, no .560" lift camshaft, or SS-style intake manifold. Not to mention all the other components that wouldn't exactly survive in a Stocker (IRS, rear differential, trans, etc...).

Even if it were de-factored, what good does that do Mopar? That car wouldn't look nearly as impressive ET-wise as a DP car does and, let's face it, the average guy in the stands doesn't know the difference between a 6.1 DP and a 6.1 SRT8 engine. To them it's just a "Hemi Challenger."

Allow me to paraphrase. "without a distinct advantage, the factory doesn't want to play"

Since I'm back with the old car, would yall just throw it in the toilet? Any car that is faster than any other car should be factored. Simple. Refer to my earlier post.

Stewart, I'm down for a while. Please call John Morris (my crew chief) or Kevin and he and John can get you what you want. The 'special ice' really improved the Absolute Red Apple with Ginger. Especially after Sunday afternoon. I appreciate the help.

Question Re: A couple of thought about the new cars.

Jeff you must love standing in your own poop!!! maybe you need a new engine builder?? or there could be other things to try with that 440/6 or 440/4bbl. there are quite a few with these combo's that run near the top of the class there in (unless a new car is in it). if you were the one and only with this combo and couldn't make it work then i guess you could jump up and down, but there are plenty of 440/6bbl and 440/4bbl combo's doing quite well at this time. check the stats!!!! they may not be the fastest but there a long way from the slowest.

Only thing I see wrong with any of them are the stupid soft hp ratings. I can't see how any of the rest of the complaints really make a damn.
