Hes 90 % right
All I know is when I pulled in the water box and saw the dail in first round in a E/SA Mustang was 10.22..
THATS JUST WRONG !!
A a thru C/SA would be proud of that number.
By the way ART the 3 cars you speak about all BROKE.
So with the 20 new cars NHRA shortened the field by 20+ %

Someone writing an article should not be 90% right.

I knew they were fast, but not that fast. The Mustang James mentioned was the #1 qualifier at the Mid-Mich. NHRA Div. 3 LODRS, where he ran 10.73. It's obvious he was sandbagging by a 1/2 second at that race. Nothing personal against the driver/owner, but NHRA is letting a flawed system run rampant if they stand by and give this particular car a 10 HP hit. Now, he'll run 10.30's instead of 10.20's in E/SA.

173 cars in Stock at Indy

45 did not qualify = 42 "old" cars and 3 "new" cars

150 "old" cars in Stock = 87%

72% of "old" cars qualified

28% of "old" cars did not qualify

23 "new" cars in Stock = 13%

87% of "new" cars qualified

13% of "new" cars did not qualify (broke?)

69% of top 16 qualifiers were "new" cars

etc............

Maybe that is why GM did not enter the 2010 bogus arena. Think maybe GM knew something?

Thanks Jok! Well done.

DP and CJ are all bogus. Art, don't you run a bogus combo. I look at what people have done with the other cars they have run. Can not make them run, but now they are top qualifiers. Yea right. Most of us have worked hard on our cars and made them run good. We do not relie on NHRA for a soft HP rating. And that is the trruth, like it or not!!!!!!!

I can't believe you or anyone else can defend this bogus BS. These cars have no business in the traditional stock classes, they were never produced as a street legal car and the motors are not even crate motors. They are just a bunch of parts from the hi po catalogs of Ford and Chrysler. Let me have a set of fast burn heads, a 520 solid roller cam, a victor intake and a dominator carb plus 11.5 to 1 compression and rate my motor at 285 and let the games begin.
