For me the biggest issue with the new cars is the fact that they aren't true production cars that should be in stock. I cannot roll into any Dodge dealer right now and open the hood of a Challenger and find the engine these cars are running in Stock. The Ford is actually closer to stock than the Mopar but like the Dodge it's not a true production car. The production Ford weighs 3900 lb and is 550hp. I don't have a problem with fast stockers I actually like them. They do have a significant advantage over older cars and that's to be expected with the increase in technology. I think they should get moved to their own class and eventually when the hp does even out then move them back into Stock but I imagine by that point they will be super stock only cars due to the extremely high hp factor they would carry by then.

This will solve the problem. Make the AHFS 1.00, then take only the class winners to race on Sunday. Problem solved in 3 months. But then again I don't really care, although I'm building a 383 for stock in a b body wagon. It will be 280, the same motor in the cuda is 297 I think.

Let me see if I can make someone's day. I think Mopar will make 50 2010 Drag Pak cars, I think Mopar will offer a body in white, contents yet to be determined. I think Mopar will offer a 392 Hemi. I have an idea a blower might be in the works. I think Mopar might offer an assemble-it-yourself motor package for the Gen III Hemi's. I think the base motors that the Drag Pak Hemi's were made from are or will be available as crate motors at a very resonable price. And I think the Fords have announced several motors, and there are I think Camaro body-in-white available, but no combos done or approved. Maybe some of the Ford guys could chime in here on what is available.

I agree with class winners only, but .75 under? Ouch!

In defense of the DP owners (not that they need my help) if you look at when they had to order the cars vs when the HP numbers were released by NHRA you will see that the specs were released 3/20/09 while the cars were bought in 08 with the first delivered in 1/09. So these guys decided to run these cars before they knew for sure the HP ratings or class. Don't know the chronology on the Mustangs.
So I guess maybe they are a little less unethical and immoral than me. I had decided to run the 70 383 in SSGT until I saw the HP on the 5.7. |

As being part of a DP team, do I personally feel the car should have been born a Super Stocker? Part of me says yes, the other part says no. Yes, because I feel the same as other's that in order to be considered a true stocker, it should have a VIN and had been driven off the lot. No, because the car was approved for Stock class. Either way we're just happy to own one and after a month debating whether to build a stock or super stocker, we decided to build a stocker. We're just playing the hand that was dealt to us. |

Rock; anybody that knows Brian, knows that he always likes to show what he has. You guys on the other hand only run as fast as you have to. Funny how a car that was a 9.40&50 car last year is all of a sudden a 9.0 car now. Brians' combo is near the end of its' development life, where yours' is just getting started. You ran as fast in D as Brian did in C. So what do you think you would have ran with 200lbs out as a C car. We all know your car should be a C car now at the weight your running now. You ran neck and neck with Allen Wade last year, now he doesn't stand a chance of ever beating you, short of a red-light or you break.
