Certain events due to scheduling, geography or whatever will show NHRA their value to the racers. This is how it happens and the schedule gets trimmed. No racers, no spectators, no money, NO race next time. The pros can support the event for a while but.... entries are money.

I wouldn't hazard a guess as to where the Topeka entry total will end up, but Bristol was at 197 a week ago. Seems like more and more racers are waiting until the last minute to spend their money and/or make their final decision as to whether or not to go.

I live in Div.1, so I realize that the SS and Stock categories are king in this Div., and that Stock class is being run; but check out the Englishtown entry list:
SS - Quota=80 - Entries=59 (73.8%) Stock - Quota=130 - Entries=101 (77.7%) S/C - Quota=90 - Entries=92 (102.2%) S/ST - Quota=60 - Entries=57 (95%) Even Comp. is at 42.5% and the event is still 4 weeks away. Bill Seabrooks - superfan1 Bridgeport, Ct. |
