Seems to me that the index for AA is set too low compared to the other indexes. I did a little calculating and it looks like it will take a lot more horsepower to run in AA compared to the other classes. For example a car that fits in AA, A, B, or C will qualify much better in A, B, and C than in AA. Here is my comparison table:
Class___Weight____Index____Horsepower** AA/S____3000_____10.90_____ 611 A/S_____3200_____11.25______535 B/S_____3400_____11.50______530 C/S_____3600_____11.65______537 ** Horsepower required to run 1 second under the index. (Wallace Racing Calculator used, [did not add driver weight] ) Note: I used 400 HP for the factored power to figure the Class. As you can see the horsepower required for A, B, and C is in the 530’s range but it’s 611 for AA. So if an A/S could run 1 sec under and wanted to remove weight to step up to AA, that car would only be able to run 10.05 or 0.85 under the index. Seems to me that the AA/S and AA/SA indexes should be 11.05 and 11.10….Any thoughts??? Maybe it’s this way to keep the high horsepower cars like the new CJ from being factored out of stock??? |

BWheat and GUMP
So are you trying to tell me that the AA guys are the only ones going all out and A and B are holding back just to not get hit with horsepower. You mean most are sand-bagging until a heads up race. Come on...I don't think so. If that was the case then all AA would be at the top of the qualifying sheet and all AA heads up runs would result in added factored horsepower for their cars. In fact, I rarely see AA class near the top of a qualifying list because of the unfavorable index. Last edited by Fred Popov; 04-22-2009 at 05:51 PM. |

Yeah, but you guys don't have to fix the broke stuff. There's some ugly pieces under that thing now.
