Rtaylor,
The joke is on nhra. We don't expect them to change a thing.

John,
The rear wheel horsepower v. flywheel horsepower seem a little off. Check the Moroso calculator and see what you get.

Chad,
About 1,300'

Wasn't Stinnett running 9:70's at Phoenix in AA/SA?

Bruce,
My ancient (yellowed) Moroso slide rule "Power/Speed Calculator 89650" says 730 HP at 140 mph for 3,485 pounds.

I don't think ANY of these calculators are dead-on accurate; too many variables, but they do give a ballpark figure that is good for discussion, I think. That additional (100+ pounds I added) weight was in deference to someone who said that's what they actually weighed at Ennis.

Bill,
My new Moroso has the number at 745 ish. I think all the calculators are within 1% to 2%.

Chad, my weather station was showing about 2200' when the one I saw go 9.7something @ 140 MPH. Don't know what the 60' was, but appered to me to leave a bit soft. Glad I don't run that class. Talking to Sonny Stancil, the new Dodge sounds dangerous too. 275 hp? Same as the LT1 factory rating, but with larger ports, 1000 cfm throttle body, etc. Going to be interesting for sure.

I know where one of those new blown Cobra Jet race cars is sitting close by here, but he likely won't let me put it on my chassis dyno.

I'm curious what the Moroso calculator says for DeArmonds 9.71 @134.24 record or Ponds 9.68 @138.79 record ?

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

MOR-89650

That's the Summit part number for the latest (I assume) version of this old hoss...

The link, above, should take you to that Summit page. $8.95.

Think I'll order a new one; mine is about 40 years old, I think.... no kidding!
