Blown, injected, 4-valve CJ's at Ennis...
Two of the new Mustangs showed up at Ennis this weekend, and when the dust cleared on the qualifying, one was quoted as having run 9.794 @ 140+ mph. They were both entered in AA/SA.
Fascinated by those numbers, I decided to see what the online calculator had to say about the HP numbers. This particular online calculator seems pretty close, however. any calculator such as this can't be really accurate. Nevertheless, this one (http://www.wallaceracing.com/Calculators.htm) said the numbers were as follows.... I entered 3,358 pounds and 700hp and got: "Your ET / MPH computed from your vehicle weight of 3,358 pounds and HP of 700 is 9.82 seconds and MPH of 136.38 MPH." So, I entered 750 horsepower to see if I could get the mph up to what the cars really turned: The calculator says:"Your ET / MPH computed from your vehicle weight of 3,358 pounds and HP of 750 is 9.60 seconds and MPH of 139.55 MPH." Looks like John Calvert might have been a little conservative when he estimated that with a "little tweaking" he could get 700 out of one of these motors. Gonna be interesting to see what the Dodges can do.... |

Chris,
Yes, they really did go 140 mph, without a tail wind. The wind was actually cross/cross head. |
Re: Blown, injected, 4-valve CJ's at Ennis...
Both of the '08 Mustangs at Ennis were SS/AA cars, with C-4's built by Len Schneider, a West Coast transmission/converter builder in Grass Valley, CA. The manual-transmission cars might go even faster; dunno...

Just wait until someone actually blueprints one of them.

Craig,
I don't know whether NHRA has a handle on the drive pulley and blower pulley sizes, but if they don't, "blueprinting" will pale beside what additional boost from overdriving the blower can do for engine output. Boost is addictive!!! :( |
