Indy has been a lot of fun this far but I must say that the low point was getting a chance to talk to David and hear about the nasty s*it these Hemi owners said to him over the course of the last two days.

There are racers like David who move the sport forward by pushing a ''new school'' cars and help in making it a fairer playing field for all those who have invested years and $$ in their ''old school'' combos....
Its also nice to see it leave like an ''old school'' car...
THANK YOU DAVID......

You guys crack me up. Last year when everyone and his brother were running these cars balls out you were decrying them as Satan incarnate. Now, Bartom goes 1.3 under and you act like he's the first one to make a full pass.

I saw Carey Bales testing with Merryfield's DP at US 41 last Saturday night. They were #3 last year at 1.73 under. This year they weren't even going to Indy because the car has been hit 4 times and can now only run .7 or so under. Looks like they should have gone, the bubble was only .631 under.

Yes, the new cars are killer on heads-up runs, but they have not been very successful in the bracket racing part.

Barton's car is a real race car that would be fast with a decent horsepower rating. His is the fastest of its kind by a lot. He and Keith Lynch are the only ones that have built real Drag Pack race cars and actually run them hard. If Merryfield's DP can only run .7 under now, it just proves my point. Another example is Ronzello's D/SA car, he ran 128 mph in Milan last weekend, which is easily enough to run 10.20s, but he couldn't even win class. Cars like Barton's and Lynch's (and some others) would be fast without the bogus HP ratings. I have a lot more respect for a guy who builds a real stock eliminator car with all the tricks and little things than someone who runs some ridiculous amount under without trying because of a BS factor.

Just look at the facts. Barton’s 65 coronet (which is owned by Al Carp) is one of the fastest in the country. When he was running the 70 Hemi challenger it was one very fast car with a terrible weight break, at the time 457HP rating. All the SS/AH car’s he drives and maintains are always very competitive and very fast, so let’s give some credit to the engine builder Ray Barton for a job well done. David is a great driver who is only getting better, so it’s just a matter of time before the new challenger is a national event winner, and boy do I miss racing.

That car last year was rated at 305 it's now over 400 and Keith Lynch was #4 or 5 qualifier with that same 5.7 combination. All it tells me is that once you start getting factored closer to what you should be you have to actually work on your car.

God forbid they have to write a check AND work on it, lol

I'm repeating myself, but the new engines that are introduced to stock should be 1.25 Hp per C.I. and let them run the HP down. Instead of sandbagging to hold onto the advantage of the bogas HP ratings that they are currently running. Any combo with power adder be put at 1.75 HP per C.I.
I'm sure that there many racers with older cars would love to have their Stock factory HP put back on the rides. I know that I could shed off 200 lbs from my combo if NHRA went back to original HP rating from the factory or move down 2 classes. That would put all the Z/28s able to move down 2 classes, that would be the same as the new engines in the classes that they are in. I'm not crying about the new cars, I really like them, but just want a fair playing field when they bring a new vehicle online to race in stock.

BTW, Great Job David!
