first time putting a roll bar in a Malibu . does the bar have to be welded to the frame or can it be welded to the floor ?

And I’d suggest boxing the frame adjacent to wherever the bar meets the frame.

Run a box from the frame connectors to the rockers below the main hoop and angled bars behind the seats. Welding the frame connectors to or through the floor also helps stiffen everything up.
