I worked for SCAT as a buyer and bought the rods and various other components. SCAT owned the molds for the H-Beam rods and we were having them poured up in the valley. We never had any quality problems, core shift etc. All the machine work was done in house in Manhatten Beach CA. We did very little outsourcing (off shore) of components. All the cast cranks we machined were raw castings that did in fact come from abroad.

I used SCAT rods in my Super Stock 360 and never had any problem.

I checked with my freinds at www.oliver-rods.com and they are 100 % MADE IN THE USA.

Has anyone used Crower rods? They cost several times what Scat does, but are NHRA listed for some apps where Scat isn't.

We have used them in some of the 400 sbc SS engines we have built. At the time they were the only ones who would build a custom length rod for you,and that is what a stock length 400 rod was considered at the time, custom. Now Manley has a pretty nice 400 rod also.

You can get Scat rods approved, but it will cost you one rod. Wesley did it for me, didn't take him long to get it done.

Any of you guys ever use Ohio Crank stuff? I know that their cranks are forged over seas but machine at their facilities. I think they make their own rods. Got a 468 Pontiac stroker kit in my bracket car and a 489 BBC in my wifes car and they are still together. Good stuff.
