They may be fine, but I'd buy Manley's. Its a peace of mind thing.... spend it once, ya know. My original engine builder, convinced me, and I'm glad he did.

I better go find some wood to knock on , now that I said that......

You get what you pay for in most cases.
Any of them can fail. I pulled the eye out of a Manley connecting rod back in the 1990's. Manley did give me a new full set of rods but I still lost a block and a couple of pistons and cam in the deal.
My 2 Cents

yup...no matter what you buy, **** happens. I've seen them all fail...but if you check them when you get them completely/ big end / small end/ length/ Mag, you might ward off some problems...would'nt belive what I've seen in the past 35 years from all of them...

So true Bub...
Had a customer want to supply his own parts for a BB SS engine. He furnished all the parts. He did get a name rod, but they were out of parallel big end to little end about .006.
Try to explain that when checking the deck height. You have to check & recheck any brand.

No Ed your not missing anything...properly prepared stock rod are just fine to a point. Piston weight and RPM will take a toll on any connecting rod...

All aftermarket rods are made in China. I believe Howards are the only ones left in USA. Ask Manley they will tell you the same.

I have used Scat rods in my bracket engine for years, and now my Super Stock engine. Never a problem. Wesley got them approved for me. I had to donate a sample rod. That is why Scat is listed. Wesley submitted it for me at the end of last summer.

I worked for SCAT as a buyer and bought the rods and various other components. SCAT owned the molds for the H-Beam rods and we were having them poured up in the valley. We never had any quality problems, core shift etc. All the machine work was done in house in Manhatten Beach CA. We did very little outsourcing (off shore) of components. All the cast cranks we machined were raw castings that did in fact come from abroad.

I used SCAT rods in my Super Stock 360 and never had any problem.
